VRS: Degenerate Art from the 1930s is an exhibition that focuses on the term adopted by the Nazi Party in Germany in an attempt to ridicule and embarrass the modern artists of the time. This book was an opportunity to celebrate the art, voices and social movement that came from an oppressive and dark time in European art history. Throughout my research, the idea of an artist going against the natural order of things inspired my layout to communicate rebellion throughout the layout design. Effectively I was inspired to break the grid, shift photographs and disrupt the order of the columns to embody the spirit of breaking free.
